Taking the Drag out of your accounts - Jaccountancy

With inclusive and progressive beliefs channelled throughout the firm, Jaccountancy were thrilled to have been the official sponsor of the North’s largest drag competition ’Drag Idol’.

We are grateful to have been given another opportunity to continue to be an ally with our local LGBTQ+ community, and support local and emerging talent, giving them a bigger platform to showcase what the North East has to offer.

Drag Idol, now stronger than ever this year, has gifted exposure to some of the region’s most well known drag kings and queens with previous winners including; Tess Tickle, Gladys Duffy and recently RuPaul UK Season 2 star, Choriza May.
Choriza competed and was crowned back in 2019, with her talent and the competition paving the way for her success on the international stage of RuPaul.

With the opportunity to win a large cash prize, getting to preform on the main stage of the UK’s official pride held in Newcastle later this year and their own merchandise from Farbiq, Jaccountancy wanted to be involved and offered our sponsorship so we can continue to support our scene.

“We are delighted to be the Sponsor for Drag Idol 2022 as part of our shared passion, mission and vision to support LGBTQ+ community in Newcastle upon Tyne and beyond.

At Jaccountancy HQ, we operate a safe, loving and supportive place to work for our team and our clients, with equality and diversity embedded at the heart of our company.”

The Competition Started on the 13th February for 6 Weeks

There was barely a false eye lash to separate the finalists after both rounds of the finale, at Boulevard on the 20th March, leaving judges Miss Rory, Penni T, Raunchy Rusty, and Guest Judge Dannie Dee along with Drag Idol host Ophelia B, to make an incredibly tough decision to crown the winner.

The finalists Skankii Kandl, Bonnie and Ben Dover, Stacey Rachet and Laila Sagittarius spent an evening delivering powerful and passionate performances which took diverse inspiration, everything from the real struggles still faced by the LGBTQ+ community today, to worldwide mental health awareness and of course, some good old fashioned showbiz, pop and camp. Fabulous!

In the end the spoils went to Bonnie and Ben Dover, thanks to two crazy but well amazingly executed numbers that prompted a huge reaction from both the judges and the audience.

A huge congratulations to Bonni and Ben Dover 🎉
